The parish Church of St. Agatha's, Llanymynech, straddles the border of England
and Wales, nestled at the foothills of Llanymynech Hill. In serving the three communities
of Llanymynech, Pant (part of which is however served by Morton Parish) and Carreghofa,
strong links with both English and Welsh residents have been established.
The church has good links with the two primary schools in the parish (Bryn Offa C of E School
in Pant and Carreghofa County Primary School) and the two pre-schools (Pant Pandas and Border Pre-School).
The church, having been a site of Christian worship for over 1000 years, remains close-knit
and welcoming to both new residents and visitors.
The Sunday services are traditional, using Common Worship Order One for our weekly Eucharist.
Our choir sings at Sunday services and festivals.
Junior Church meets on the first and third Sundays of the month.
Weekday Offices are said in Church everyday and there are additional
services on major feast days. There is a time of fellowship following the service on the first Sunday of the month
in the Church Hall where we offer tea and toast, and Traidcraft is available for purchase.
The Parish Magazine, besides keeping people informed of Church News and Services, also covers
general parish news. It is delivered monthly to subscribers and is available from the village
shop and the back of church.
The Church also holds several fund raising events throughout the year including the Christmas Fair, Spring Fair
and Summer Strawberry Tea. We also hold at least one concert in Church usually featuring a visiting choir.
There is a Church Hall which adjoins the closed churchyard and is well-used for parish and
community functions. There are plans to add car parking facilities in the near future.
There is a Guide company and a thriving Brownie pack which attends
church at regular intervals for special services as do both schools.

We are conscious that the mission we have as a church does not belong to us, but is God's mission;
we therefore need to listen to his Word and be attentive and obedient to his call as we focus our efforts
on the specific needs of a border community and the wider world. |
